Residential & Withdrawal Management Program
Work Schedule: Part-time position requiring a minimum commitment of two shifts per week. Shift length may vary between 8-hour and 12-hour shifts based on operational needs, staffing requirements, and program census. Flexibility to assist with additional coverage, including 12-hour day or night shifts, is preferred.
Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides compassionate, client-centered nursing care to individuals receiving residential treatment and withdrawal management services. Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager and licensed providers, the LPN is responsible for medication administration, monitoring client health status, supporting withdrawal management, documenting care in the electronic health record (EHR), and collaborating with the interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care.
Essential Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, nursing standards, and facility policies.
- Monitor and document client condition, including vital signs, withdrawal symptoms, and changes in physical or mental status.
- Collect and document nursing assessment data and ongoing clinical observations.
- Utilize withdrawal monitoring tools, including CIWA-Ar and COWS, as indicated.
- Respond appropriately to medical concerns, emergencies, and changes in client condition.
- Communicate significant findings and changes in condition to the provider and nursing leadership.
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, medication administration, and client responses in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Maintain medication security and perform controlled substance counts in accordance with facility policy.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and nursing handoff communication.
- Provide client education regarding medications, recovery, wellness, and treatment participation within the LPN scope of practice.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, peer support specialists, and medical providers to support individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Current Alabama Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Excellent assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, withdrawal management, corrections, emergency care, or residential treatment is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing nursing care in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or withdrawal management settings.
- Knowledge of withdrawal management and trauma-informed care.
- Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
